Container train China

It is now possible to send containers from China to Rotterdam by train!

The first train carrying around 20 Chinese has arrived in the Rotterdam harbour. This train has traveled by track from Asia, Russia and finally Europe.

The train ride took around two weeks, which makes this option about 10 days faster compared to regular shipped containers. This saved time can be interesting for transporting fresh items such as vegetables and foods.

Before arriving in Rotterdam, the containers from China has to be reloaded onto different carriages twice. The reason for this is because China, the former Soviet union ánd Europe all use their own type of train tracks with different widths.

The Chinese government is currently investing huge amounts to improve the train track connections with the Western part of China. The businesses in the Rotterdam harbor are delighted to be part of this major new transport corridor.
